First step to learn mouth organ

Well... According to me, the first step thing to learn wen u play the harmonica is to learn the basic notes...i.e. Sa , Re , Ga , Ma ,Pa ,Dha , Ni, SA(in indian music).. because if you get familiar with these notes you can play any song by yourself...

Which harmonica you should buy?

well.... I won't recommend any particular mouth-organ but you can buy whatever you want... it s a personal thing... In india u can easily find a 24 hole diatonic harmonica as well as a chromatic one. I play both diatonic as well as the chromatic mouth organ ... Both are a bit different since the sound is different. I like the diatonic harmonica because the sound produced by it is wave like but there are some limitations with this kind of mouth organ. one can not play all songs on this type of mouth organ because it does not have the "sharp" or "flat" notes ( komal swaras) whereas in a chromatic mouth organ all notes can be played (with a little practice,of course). The chromatic harmonica has a reedy sound which gives out clear and concise notes ( i prefer the wave-like sound :) )... The starting tunes of a few songs by linkin park(in the end , crawling ) can be played on a chromatic harmonica...

The notes provided in this website will work for both diatonic as well as chromatic harmonicas, but the tunes in which "sharp" and "flat" tones (komal surs) are used can't be played on a diatonic mouth organ .
